In Your Ears - 06.29.07

- First we're gonna pilfer Stereogum and pick through all the nonsense to find the good stuff.  You can start with J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. challenging David Cross to a game of Guitar Hero. Yeah, it's as awesome as it sounds.  Next watch Wayne Coyne in a bubble at Bonnaroo...just like he did last year, and the year before. So sick of the Flaming Lips.  To wrap it up check out Ryan Adams on Letterman, Ben Kweller covering the Smashing Pumpkins and new soundtrack music from M. Ward and Bright Eyes! [Stereogum]

- Head on over to My Kentucky Blog to check out the new Amy Winehouse video for "Tears Dry On Their Own." And while you're there check out some new tracks from Margot and The Nuclear So and So's. [MOKB]

- If you're like me it's never too early to start with the best of the year lists, and Filter just happens to agree!  They have a mini-list of their top 10 records of the first half of 2007.  There are some definite keepers here, but I can't get behind any list that doesn't include the hands down best record of the year. [Filter]

- Pitchfork has some good stuff this week, including new videos from Art Brut, Blitzen Trapper, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol and Kanye West! [Pitchfork]

- One of my favorite records of 2006 was 'Boys and Girls in America' from the Hold Steady.  While I haven't listened to it in a number of months now, these acoustic versions of two tracks from the album just reminded me of how good it was. [I Guess I'm Floating]

- And finally, what better way to start the weekend then with a little Michael Scott and a whole lotta Styx! [BWE]

In Your Ears: 06.23.07

Check it out. "In Your Ears" is your one stop weekly round-up of all that matters in the world of music.  Since we give you the gossip all week, these posts will focus more on pointing you to  the hottest MP3s, videos and more. We forget something? Throw it up in the comments.

- By now you should have heard "Stronger," the new Kanye West track from the forthcoming record Graduation. You should also know that the main sample in the song is from Daft Punk. Well now Diplo adds his stamp with a pretty crazy remix. So Kanye, Daft Punk and Diplo. That's a party. [My Old Kentucky Blog]

- Earlier this week the full line-up for the Austin City Limits festival was announced.  Wow. I thought Lollapalooza and Bonaroo had good lineups, but this thing is ridiculous.  Head on over to I Guess I'm Floating for the full line-up, conflicts (Arcade Fire and White Stripes on the same day and same time!?) and tons of MP3s. [I Guess I'm Floating]

- Feist has been getting crazy spins over at the LG Headquarters, and this track might just be our "end of the day time to start drinking" jam for this week.  It's a remix by Van She of "1234." Electro goodness. [Gorilla vs. Bear]

- Pete Doherty and Kate Moss get dressed up like Sgt. Peppers era Beatles, set up a video camera, wave a flag, whistle and kinda sing. Yeah. Now that's what i call entertainment. Can I have some of what they are on please? [Best Week Ever]

- Pitchfork is quickly becoming the place for new videos.  While the reviews might be a little much the music content is top notch. Head on over for new music videos from Bright Eyes, Timbaland, Rufus Wainwright, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more. [P4K]

- Billy Corgan is kind of a "tool." I use that word specifically. Be that as it may, people seem to love the Smashing Pumpkins and Corgan in all his nasally glory.  Well, this is for you then.  Apparently Zeitgeist will be sold with four different track listings depending on what retail/digital vendor you buy it from. Collect them all? Umm, no. Check out the full track listings over at Stereogum. [Stereogum]

-
Finally, the Cure have announced that they will tour yet again in the fall of 2007 in support of their 13th studio album.  While the band hasn't released anything of any value since Bloodflowers, I am still hopeful.  Probably a bad idea...here are a couple of MP3s that are perfect for those hot summer nights:

The Cure - Hot Hot Hot!!! [MP3] / [YouTube]

The Cure - Six Different Ways [MP3]
