The last week of 2006

In this crazy Blog filled world we live in, missing a week of the Internets can be likened to living in a cave in northern Canada for a year.  So while I have been away here are a couple of things that went down:

  •  R.I.P. James Brown - The Godfather of Soul passed away on Christmas morning leaving behind a legacy unrivaled in the world of music.  Check out Fluxblog and Bag of Songs for tributes and tracks from the Hardest Working Man In Show Business.
  • 2006 Gummy Awards - Last week Stereogum posted the winners of the Gummy Awards voted on by people just like you!  According to them some of the best records of the year included: The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Hold Steady, Regina Spektor and TV on The Radio.  Other Gummy Award categories included Mr. Indie Rock, Miss Indie Rock, Best Music Blog and more.  Check it out here.
  • Arcade Fire Leak - Some genius over at Merge uploaded the wrong track onto iTunes and ended up giving the world a sneak peek at a new Arcade Fire track called "Black Wave/Bad Vibrations.  Win has details over on the Arcade Fire site.  Accident or publicity stunt?
