MP3 Mayhem!

Let's take a break from the gossip for a minute and check out some of the jams that have been floating around the internet the last couple of weeks.  I know it's a lot of effort to right click and download nowadays, but if you make the effort you shall be rewarded with sonic bliss...

Kelly Clarkson seems so angry on her first single from the soon to be released My December LP. One thing's for sure, of all the American Idol peeps she has the most indie cred by far.  First the news she was working with Mike Watt and now her touring drummer is +/-'s Chris Deaner! The indie kids are going to eat this record up...unless of course Ms. Clarkson has already lost all her irony.

Check out the title track from the new Queens of the Stone Age record Era Vulgaris due out later this Spring.  The strange thing is that this track didn't even make the cut for the new record, so it's actually a title track that's a b-side. What will the marketing wizards think of next?!  Oh the track also features some guy named Trent Reznor.

If you read the British music rags it would appear that Klaxons are not only the saviors of music but also already the biggest band in the world.  While they're not quite there yet, they definitely have the potential.   I am a huge fan and can only encourage you to go out and get their record Myths of the Near Future. Hopefully you already have it and have been playing it really loud for the last couple of weeks.  Here are a couple of remixes that are recommended for playing after 2 AM.

The Hold Steady are one of those bands you either love or hate. I happen to love them.  So if you're not a fan then don't even bother downloading this track as it will just annoy the piss out of you.  I always enjoy it when sports and indie rock collide...I just would replace all the Minnesota Twins references with the Chicago Cubs!

Earlier this month I posted Mark Ronson's take on "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" by the Smiths that has been tearing it up over in the UK and on the east coast.  While I quite enjoy the track I don't think it's the strongest offering from Version. One of my favorites is the Kaiser Chiefs cover of "Oh My God" featuring Lily Allen. You likey?

Adam and the Ants are one of the most underrated acts of the 80s so I'm always pleased when a band references them as an influence.  Client has taken it one step further and recorded a pretty awesome cover of "Zerox Machine" that you can find on their record Heartland.
