My 'Mayer'-Bag (aka My Mailbag)
I thought I'd share with you a lovely email I received from a devoted fan. I love these emails, though the sentiment here is one I get a lot in my "Mayer-Bag" (Mailbag). This one's from Michele:
Thank you for your concern, Michele. My relationship with Jessica is about more than sex, though the sex is great -- I mean, really great -- and is one of the most important parts of our relationship. She is a suitable girlfriend for me, and even though we're considered to be on very different spectrums of the music world (pop singer vs. legendary blues guitarist), and even though it's hard to communicate with her when our needs and desires are so different (outside appearance vs. crusading for truth / fighting global warming), we always have one thing in common: great sex. That always brings us together, if you know what I mean.

OK Guys this is so NOT JM. Whoever this is does not even write like John. He is much more analytical Also John does not like to discuss his personal life at all. Tonight is the start of his summer tour so why on Gods green earth would he be blogging?? Rehearsals anyone?? Please this is such a hoax!

is this REALLY John's blog?? if so then why does he only talk about having sex with Jessica. its crazy, most famous people try and keep their personal lives to themselves. i just cant believe that he would constantly talk about having sex with her, and if this really is him, then why isnt she complaining about it. how can their relationship be good when he says the things he does. now dont get me wrong, im big fans of both John and Jessica and i would love for them to be together. but i just dont understand why he would post some of the things he does. You must be so tired of people ragging on you about Jessica. At first I was skeptical, but she has definitely grown on me.

Wow John, I guess you really like sex huh? That's good to hear, because I do to. Haven't had any in 10 months, but I like it just as well. Anywho, just writing to say that I hope you and Jess can work things out because I have my own agenda down the line...
Oh, and guys, I think some of the comments are supposed to be satirical, not unlike some of the new Britney Spears interviews.
Hey Mr. Bigshot! I was talkin' to Jessica the other day and she TOLD ME that she doesn't even like havin' sex with you and that your dick reminds her of a banana. Not a Dole or Chiquita kind of a banana, but one of those bocadillo plantains!! And she said that if she doesn't pretend that she likes it, you go in the other room and draw on the wall with your dumb box of 64 crayons. I'm just tellin' ya what she said.
Of course this blog is a spoof - but I believe it is the real JM who is doing the blogging. He is very smart and clever, and this is just his brand of humor. I've read alot of his writing, and there are subtle similarities. Sometimes in his comments here, he gives a little glimmer of insight - just enough so those who are paying close enough attention will know it is really him. He is probably sitting at his computer having a good laugh at all the people who are leaving the angry, indignant comments, telling him what an immature, spoiled "big shot" he is. Can't you see it's all tongue in cheek? It's a brilliant, entertaining, hilarious parody of the media and the way they hound celebrities. He's giving us an exaggerated portrayal of himself as they are trying to portray him. As John's career continues to soar, I think he has even surprised himself a little with the depth and breadth of his musical and vocal talent. As people have come to realize how gifted he is (in so many ways), the media seems even more intent to dig up dirt that doesn't exist. It must be difficult to deal with. If John were really an egotistical, spoiled brat, he could have reacted like so many other celebrities have and punched out a few of the "friendly" media folks. But instead, he takes the high road and chooses to see the humor in the situation. He's far bigger than all that.
About Jessica, you people are insulting John with your "advice" and criticism. You don't even know her - how can you judge if she's right for him? One thing is obvious: she's very beautiful, and she seems so sincere. Granted, they do seem to have very different personalities, but give JM a little credit here. He's intelligent, insightful, with a good head on his shoulders. There must be something special about Jessica if he chooses to spend his time with her. If they are incompatible, I'm sure he will figure it out. Doesn't he have the right to get to know and date people until he finds the "right one," just like the rest of us?
JM is very different from most musicians. Through his writing and blogging, he has given us an opportunity to get to know a little of who he really is, underneath all the required PR. I know it sounds weird, but I think of John as, well, a good friend...even though he wouldn't know me if he saw me. He has shared so many of his thoughts and ideas, I feel like I know him, even though it's been a one-sided conversation. God has given John Mayer many incredible gifts, and it seems he is trying to use them for the greater good. The more I read about him, the more impressed I am.
