This week we had Tokyo Police Club in the studio where they played us a handful of songs including this pretty impressive version of ‘Your English is Good.’

Scissors For Lefty came by the studio and played us a stripped down version of their hit song “Ghetto Ways.” We dare you to try and get it out of your head. You will fail.

The full intro song to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air apparently only aired in the first few episodes. See exactly how he went from his momma telling him "you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air" to whistling for a cab in Hollywood.

Not to be confused with some sort of parody of Prince's "Purple Rain," this is just one REALLY repetitive song about racism. But the lyrics are hilarious and the melody is infectious!!!

You’ve probably heard Cary Brothers before and didn’t even know it, as he had a song in some movie called Garden State that apparently changed people’s lives. In any case his new record called Who You Are is more deserving of your dollars than some silly soundtrack!

Chrisopher Blue has apparently been soaked in booze. Was he drunk during his session? No, BUT every review I have read about him compares his songs to Tom Waits and says he has “blues-soaked vocals.” I dunno about all that, but I do know this is one helluva performance. Watch it…now!

Acute are a trio from Los Angeles who play pop music that is equally melodic and hooky. Mando Diao have been a favorite here at LG for some time now. We actually had a bunch of people from the office head out to the Troubadour to see them live last month. Needless to say we were all pretty psyched when the band stopped by for a session, and they didn’t disappoint. Here’s the first of three songs they played from their new record Ode to Ochrasy.

Well I don’t know if you can really call this an acoustic performance, but either way it’s pretty frickin’ entertaining. The Harlem Shakes are one of those bands where the term “collective” actually applies. This was one of three songs they played for us from their debut EP titled Burning Birthdays. Look for them on tour this Summer!

These 18-year-olds (they call themselves Peer Pressure) are dancing to a Pretty Ricky song in response to a competition that the R&B group help. Peer Pressure is available for parties, ladies.

If you’re saying to yourself right now: “Self, I know I’ve heard this song before but can’t remember where,” chances are you watch a little program called Grey’s Anatomy. Let’s Go Sailing have become a staple on the show with not one or two but three songs receiving placement in those super dramatic almost laughable scenes. I don’t know about the show, but the band is great as evidenced by their stripped down version of the soon to be huge song “Sideways.” Good stuff!

This was one of our favorite sessions yet as we actually had an accordion player in the house! Kate Havnevik is all over the place right now and we were psyched that she was nice enough to come by our studios a couple of weeks ago. One thing is for sure. The girl can sing.
