New Queens of the Stone Age Video!

Check out this new video, err teaser, from Queens of the Stone Age for the song "Sick, Sick, Sick" from the soon to be released Era Vulgaris LP. The track features Julian Casablancas sharing some vocals with Homme and it simply Rocks.  The animated video features "Bulby" who reminds me of an R Rated version of the Schoolhouse Rock cartoons. You remember those, or am I old?

Indie Girls + Indie Rock Cover + YouTube = Good Times

Jesus, over at What Would Jesus Blog put together a pretty awesome post of girls playing covers of their favorite indie rock songs by artists such as the Shins, Bright Eyes, Death Cab for Cutie, Wilco, Radiohead and more.  While this could be a painful listening session, it's actually kinda enjoyable.  Let us know what your favorite is.  Right now I am digging rckrgurl's take on the Arctic Monkey's "When the Sun Goes Down" and shuber's version of "The Engine Driver" by The Decemberists:

Peaches takes on "My Humps" + Alanis + Poo!

Last year Peaches recorded a parody of "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas called "My Dumps."  It was funny. We laughed.  Well Peaches has taken it a step further and made a video parody of the Alanis Morissette version of "My Humps." Yeah, I am confused as well.  Just watch this and giggle. Peaches - My Dumps (Alanis Morissette Version)

Never heard the original "My Dumps?" Shame on you...check it out here.

Karaoke with Of Montreal!

Karaoke is good times. Anyone that says differently is lying.  The only thing better than Karaoke is live Karaoke, and the only thing better than that is having the band playing the music be Of Montreal.  This. Actually. Happened.  Over the weekend comedian David Showalter hosted a live Karaoke night at Brooklyn's Studio B. The event was sponsored by Stereogum who have a full review of all the festivities. I am jealous as it sounded like one amazing night!  Check out the winner of the Karaoke contest, Griffin Walker, taking on Journey's "Don't Stop Believin" right here

Oh and just when everyone thought the night was over, Paul Rudd and Wet Hot American Summer director Paul Rudd took on Boston's "More Than A Feeling" and killed the place.  When watching both videos listen to how amazing the background music is...Of Montreal has just moved up a couple of notches on my list of good times bands!

NOTE: Rock Bands of the world. Please unite and do Karaoke nights across the land!

Weekend Funnies with SNL

Hi friends! How were your weekends?  Mine was just splendid...thanks for asking.  So I missed SNL on Saturday as I was stranded in Acapulco.  Not the city, but rather the "Restaurant and Cantina" on La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA.  Picture a Mexican themed Bennigans and you're there.   I went in for a quick bite with a friend and ended up downing three gallons of pre-made, poured through a hose margaritas.  Yeah. It was a party. So like I said, I missed SNL but there were two music related bits that I needed to share.  Ironically (or coincidentally? hmmm.) neither one has anything to do with Avril Lavigne, although her performances were pretty damn funny though!

The first is a sketch called "An Intimate Moment with John Mayer and Jessica Simpson." File in the "funny because it's true" bin...at least it might be.

The funniest moment came (per usual) with the SNL Digital Short. Quite possibly the best use of an Imogen Heap song ever.  Check out the MP3 and video at the bottom of the page.

UPDATE!! Slippy points out that the Digital Short may have been influenced by the series finale of a certain show set in Orange County, CA. I never knew it was a comedy!

Bob Dylan serenades Sanjaya...

Well I guess there's a chance this really isn't Bob Dylan, but it sure sounds like him.  Who would've thought that Bunny Rabbits, Bob and Sanjaya could be oh so enthralling! (Via BWE)

Avril Lavigne...So Awkward

Brit TV has a show called Popworld hosted by Alex Zane and the show is kind of like a British version of the old LG interviews.  In other words, silly questions meant to not make fun of the artists but rather for the artists to have fun with.  Well either Avril Lavigne got her funny bone injured in a freak snow-mobile accident or her publicist never told her that the interview is supposed to be kinda silly.  My favorite part is how she keeps looking off camera for help from someone.  Just have fun with it already Avril! We won't think less of you because you can't "juggle cats."

Via Stereogum

Those were some pretty good questions, but not nearly as good as the ones we asked bands at Lollapalooza last year! Come on, "If your band had a sex toy, what would it be called?" is pretty funny. Or at least a little funny...

Videos of the Day: Nixon at a 30 Seconds To Mars Show and Snoop Dogg Speaking the Truff

I know I know. What's with all the videos, right? Well we're on a visual kick over at the LG Empire so you'll just have to deal with it.  If not I'll tell my friend you're a monster and she'll come kick your ass!

Check me out freaking out at a 30 Seconds to Mars show. And you always thought that I was the "cool" one at LG! What can I say? Leto makes me hott:

Only Snoop can go to the Netherlands, appear on the Nordic version of Letterman and tell Bill O'Reilly (multiple times) to "Go F**K Himself." Does anyone party as much as Snopp Dogg? Oh yeah, this guy.

Snow Patrol does Spiderman

So there's some movie coming out about some guy that was bit by a spider and now has super powers. Yeah, like that's going to make any money. Hollywood has really lost it.  While the movie might be a total bust, the soundtrack is actually pretty awesome and features new songs from The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Rogue Wave, The Walkmen, Wolfmother and tons more.  The first single off the record seems to be from everyone's favorite made-for-TV-drama band Snow Patrol.  Yeah they are silly, sappy and snowy but something about them is so sincere that you can't help liking them just a little bit, right?  Maybe I am just a sucker for a sad song with piano.  Anyway there are tons of fan made videos already floating around YouTube so you can hear the song set to tons of advance footage from the movie. Enjoy!
