Will The Simpsons Movie Live Up To The Hype?

The answer is hard to say, but I hope it's "yes."  After so many years in the making, and after big publicity with the Kwik-E-Mart promotion, Simpsonize Me and now this:

...a 180-foot drawing of Homer offering a pagan god a donut, I just wonder if this will be the amazing Simpsons movie I want it to be, or yet another failed attempt to make a movie out of a half hour TV show (like the horrible direct-to-DVD Family Guy "movie").  The trailer looks awesome, and I've eaten an unhealthy number of pink donuts from 7-11, but maybe now we can just ride the current wave over to the theaters.  Any more major Simpsons promotions might be overkill at this point.

Though it's considered a classic now, remember that after the gigantic summer-long promotional blitz for the conclusion of "Who Shot Mr. Burns," a LOT of people were disappointed in the ending.  The Simpsons' creators don't need that to happen again, because this time it would be on a blockbuster, Homer-sized scale.
