Here Come the Fuzz
-
I went to a HOT FUZZ screening Friday night. Pegg, Frost, and Wright doing a Q
and A afterwards. Nothing too special, this is the third time I've heard the
guys speak. But when the Movie Theatre guy gets up at the end of the movie he
doesn't introduce them, he introduces...
Eli Roth...
Okay so it's Eli Roth. I don't much care for his films and when I saw him I had
the same reaction I had when I saw him introduce GRINDHOUSE. "This guy is
a leech. Living off the cool blood of the more talented film makers he
surrounds himself with." Fine he'll introduce the FUZZ guys and go away.
But instead he introduces...
Jack Black...
So what the hell? Jack Black? That's just so out of the blue. But he's there
and he does his Jack Black shtick, telling us how mind blowing the film was and
how we need to get prepared to have our minds blown even farther by....
Quentin Tarintino...
-
So now Tarintino is on stage. Admittedly a bit more expected then Jack Black.
Pegg and Wright are frequent members of his posse... but still the realization
of what's going on is amazing. These three guys were just all in the theatre
together and worked up some shtick! I got to see Tarintino, Jack Black and Eli
Roth collaborate on a "too many introductions" bit. Holy s**t! It was
just one of those amazing moments you pretty much only get in LA. And even if
you do live in LA you can never expect it. You just hope to experience one of
them so you can gloat about it to your friends at work on Monday.
And then the Q and A was by far the most fun Q and A I've ever experienced.
Tarintino finally introduced the HOT FUZZ guys and they just proceeded to tear
into the audience. They would just flat out cut you off if they didn't like
your question.
"What advice to you have for an actor whose..."
"NEXT QUESTION".
One guy asked "what were their comedic influences and they just proceeded
to ramble off this really long, boring list and then be like "that's what
you asked for right... a long boring list?"
Plus if you asked a question Tarintino gave you a BAD BOYS 2 DVD but he was
really picky about who he gave them too so the Q and A went on forever. The
audience started turning on Tarintino when he just flat out refused to give
DVD's and it really felt like people were going to riot.
It was all cool cause I stopped by Amoeba on the way home, actually ran into
Tarintino and he was very nice. He said "hello" to me. That's it, but
still...
