10 Worst Celebrity Endorsements of All-Time
-
It doesn't matter how obscenely wealthy they already are, celebrities are gonna endorse products. It's stupid and inevitable.
However, sometimes celebrity endorsements go horribly wrong, and they
ruin our lives with annoying ads or they ruin celebrity lives with
negative attention. Then eventually we laugh about it!
Here are the top ten most annoying, retarded, unfortunate and/or humiliating celebrity ad campaigns of all time:
10. Paris Hilton - Carl's Jr.
Paris Hilton in a bikini thing - hot. Paris Hilton washing a car -
hot. Paris Hilton eating a cheeseburger - really gross! Some food is
sexy, like chocolate strawberries or whatever, but if a girl I was with
started eating a cheeseburger in bed, I'd tell her to go back to her
previous lover, Mayor McCheese. Pass.
9. Blue Man Group - Intel
I used to like the Blue Man Group... at first. Then they were
everywhere, and it was so annoying. I actually forgot that the Blue
Man Group was a theater troupe - I just thought they were mascots, like
three Trix Rabbits painted blue. For eclipsing their otherwise cool
career, this Intel campaign gets on the list.

8. Austin Powers - Pepsi
The first movie was great, and then Mike Myers did everything in his
power to whore out the character. EVERYTHING had Austin Powers on it,
from beer to DirecTV to this inescapable campaign with Pepsi. What
makes this suck so much is that the ad copies verbatim one of the best
jokes from the first film. Very un-groovy.
7. Orson Welles - Paul Mason Wine
Orson Welles is one of the greatest film geniuses ever. Some would say the
greatest. Watch him cringingly deliver these lines of ad copy in this
famous series of commercials. A man's gotta eat, but he looks like a
bear with his foot in a trap. These ads make film students cry.
6. Jenny McCarthy - Candie's

Wow! Jenny McCarthy: she's beautiful and gross! So cool! Ha ha!
...or rather, not at all! Just do your business, Jenny - there's no need to share. Thanks.
5. The Flintstones - Winston Cigarettes
How many kids were encouraged by The Flintstones to smoke? How many of those kids grew up to die of lung cancer? Fred and Barney - you have the blood of many innocents on your hands.
4. Britney Spears - Pepsi
Britney's love of Pepsi was infamous. Pepsi sponsored her tour,
it's prominantly featured in her trainwreck movie, and then there was
this Super Bowl spot. Not only does it sound exactly like a catchy
f***ing Britney song, but there are shots in the commercial telling us,
the viewer, how we're supposed to react to it. I would much rather
have seen Bob Dole singing this and Britney at the end.
3. OJ Simpson - Hertz
Hindsight is 20/20, but you bet Hertz suffered big time for making
this murdering ('if he did it') sports star their pitchman. OJ gave
the term "Hertz" a whole new meaning! (ZING!)
2. Carrot Top 1-800-COLLECT
Before cell phones, every other ad on TV was for calling collect.
It was truly a national crisis of annoying, and at the forefront of
these cringe worthy ads was the worst comedian of all time: Carrot
Top. He probably shot 5,000 1-800-COLLECT ads, and all of them aired
all of the time for six years in a row. Hey, Carrot Top, I've got a
prop for you! [I give him the finger.]
1. Bill Cosby - Jell-O
I LOVE these ads. Bill Cosby is the perfect Jell-O spokesman. So
why is this the worst endorsement of all time? Well, it's not bad for us
- it's a catastrophe for him. Never in the history of the world has a
celebrity been made fun of more for being associated with a product.
If someone asked you to do a Bill Cosby impression, you'd say (in a
goofy voice), "I love... Jell-O pudding!" Comedians, cartoon writers,
internet guys, college kids and pretty much everyone else has been
making fun of Bill Cosby's association with Jell-O for about two decades now. I bet just the thought of Jell-O makes Bill Cosby vomit profusely for ten minutes, and that's why it's #1 on our list!
Got your own suggestions? What do you think is the worst endorsement?
