The Indie Buzz - February 6, 2007

Screw The Police and Rage and The Smashing Pumpkins and everyone else jumping on the reunion bandwagon.  That is, except for Wham!  Maybe they can get Kenny G to play sax for Careless Whisper. [Headline News]

The Artic Monkeys are smart. They are striking quick with a new record called Favourite Worst Nightmare due in stores on April 23rd.  I am kinda over them at this point, but the kids love ‘em almost as much as Fall Out Boy. [NME]

Check out the new M.I.A. song and video featuring some insane dancing. She called the song Bird Flu because she apparently believes that “This beat gon kill everybody.” [Stereogum]

Here’s a new song from Modest Mouse, plus artwork and tracklisting.  Unlike most of the “indie rock” world, I am not all that excited for this record. [MOKB]

If you’re bored and like to write haikus for an undisclosed prize, then you need to enter the Gnarls Barkley Haiku contest.  Does the press machine ever stop for these guys?  [BWE]

I just got back from Chicago where I watched my Bears crumble and fall to the Indianapolis Colts.  While they might have lost, America won (wink) as Prince put on an insanely good half time show.  He busted out “Let’s Go Crazy” into a John Fogerty cover (“Proud Mary”) into “Baby I’m a Star.  The weirdest moment was when he played “Best of You” a Foo Fighters cover, but all was forgiven when he went into an unforgettable version of “Purple Rain” in the rain.
