- Liquid Generation heads to SXSW next week for four days of beer, BBQ, blood and bands. Thousands of them. If you or anyone you know is going to be in
Austin, TX March 14th though the 17th send us an e-mail and we'll buy you a free beer...if you're of age of course. We'll also be hosting a party with Under the Rader magazine that is going to be a blast. Check out the details here and if you want to attend RSVP to nixon@liquidgeneration.com.
- We never thought we would ever write anything about John popper on this site, but the frontman of Blues Traveler made the news earlier this week when he was pulled over with a veritable arsenal in his truck. Hand guns, rifles, night goggles and loads of ammo....does this mean he's preparing for the end of the world or is he some kind of harmonica-playing serial killer? You be the judge. [Stereogum]
- Justice, the French "dirty electro" duo, have been a favorite of Liquid Generation's since back in 2006. We're happy to see that they're getting a bit of a buzz on the internets and even happier that they have some new songs floating around. [Idolator]
- Usually when a major corporation "commissions" a track it's just a way for them to increase brand awareness and make some dollars. But this is different. Nike (who has already brought us the pretty kick ass NIKE + ORIGINAL RUN series with the likes of LCD Soundsystem, The Crystal Method and now Aesop Rock) commissioned some of the biggest name sin hip-hop to make a track for charity. The result is "Better Than I've Ever Been" featuring Kanye West, Nas, Rakim and Krs-One. The track was produced by Rick Rubin and is only available on iTunes. All proceeds go to "support youth sport programs that impact social change." Check out the video for the track: Windows / Real
- With two weeks in a row of reruns of The Office I know a lot of you might be getting a bit stir crazy. Well never fear, as the good folks over at BWE pointed us in the direction of a fantastic The Office meets Nelly's "Hot In Here" mash-up. Good stuff. [GorillaMask]
- What's that? You want music. Well here are MP3s from Wilco, Bright Eyes, a bunch of Swedish bands, David Vandervelde, Spoon and Dntel.
And finally, let the weekend begin:
Leonard Nimoy's Ballad of Bilbo Baggins
