Mark Ronson covers The Smiths and more!

Mark Ronson is best known for his role as a producer (his most recent project was for some bird named Lily Allen) and as DJ to the Stars (he has worked too many parties, weddings and events to keep track of).  Well he is branching out and releasing a record called Version that drops in the UK April 17th.  The first single is a cover of The Smiths' "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" that hipsters across the land (and apparently Morrissey as well) are rallying behind in droves. If you've been out recently chances are you've already heard it a bunch.  Not everyone loves it though as Jamie Cook of the Arctic Monkey's actually finds it insulting. It looks like this is another case of the backlash beginning before the record is even released.  So pick your side now...before it's too late.  You can hear the entire record on Ronson's MySpace page including "versions" of Coldplay's "God Put A Smile Upon Your face," The Zutons "Valerie" feat. Amy Whinehouse and "Just" from Radiohead.  Check out the video for "Stop Me" below as well as an MP3 for the remix of by Chicken Lips.  Good stuff!
