Idol: 'Don't Do Drugs, Unless You're Paula'
-
A possible contestant for this year's American Idol, Akron Watson, was dropped from the competition because of a pot possession arrest in 2003. Alright, I guess that makes sense. After all, it would be a huge scandal if a regular on America's most popular television program were a drug addict. That would be just awf...ul... oh, no. STOP THE PRESSES!
Doesn't it seem odd that Idol has a strict no-drug policy, yet it's very clear that Paula is totally blitzed on some combination of booze, LSD and/or "wacky" tobacky? Or if it's not the drugs, but rather the criminal charges that got Akron booted, then Paula's no stranger to that world either. Personally, I'd rather put a former pothead on TV then a current junkie who learned to drive playing Carmageddon.
However, in truth, I want them both on Idol. It's that kind of drama that's supposed to be at the heart of reality TV. I just think that the judges should be held to the same moral standards as the folks they humiliate for money week after week.
If Paula could read this (it's hard to read when you can feel the earth spinning all the time), I think she'd agree.
