Happy Fake Holiday!

What a lame "holiday."  If you need an excuse to be nice to the person you are stupposedy in love with (I give Zombie Boy and Horse Face until June, btw), umm, well then your life is going to pretty much suck it.  Why not just send them one of these adorable indie rock valentines, make a normal dinner and throw your Jenny Lewis, Wilco and My Bloody Valentine mix on in the background like you do every other night?  Our favorite is from the always delicious (and devout) Sufjan Stevens:

What's that? You don't have a date? Well just follow the lead of recently dumped Stokes’ drummer Fabrizio Moretti and move on to someone much hotter and younger.  Or you could be like this guy that Phil The Intern discovered and serenade your valentine with an awful yet hilariously heartfelt YouTube performance of "Beautiful" by James "Creepy Eyes" Blunt.

When all is said and done February 14th is just another day. So this year whether you're with another human being, or just a box-o-wine, the OC Season One DVD (for tears) and The Office Season Two DVD (for laughs, duh), always remember the words of the great APH29:

"If apples were pears, and peaches were plums
And a Rose had a different name.
If tigers were bears, and fingers were thumbs
I'd love you just the same."

True dat brother, true dat...

I for one will be listening to the following on repeat for the next twelve hours. Sometimes it's just. so. hard. to be alone, and the only thing that can come close to easing the pain are ridiculous 80s ballads. You know what I'm sayin'.

Air Supply - All Out of Love.mp3

The Outfield - Your Love (Acoustic)

Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name

Def Leopard - Love Bites
