Friday Featured Band: Bobby Bare, Jr.'s Young Criminals Starvation League

Bobby Bare, Jr. has a famous Dad that he doesn't sound anything like...or does he?  While the sound is definitely different, you can hear the influence of his country legend father Bobby Bare in some of the songwriting.  I am sure Jr. just loves it when someone starts off talking about him by referencing his father, so I will stop that right...now.

The record is called The Longest Meow, and it was recorded in 11 hours by an alleged 11 piece band including members of My Morning Jacket and ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of the Dead.  Oh, and for symmetry's sake the record has 11 songs.  Don't let his hipster friends fool you though, as this is definitely a Bobb Bare, Jr. record.  Sometimes it's good old fashion country infused rock and at others it's tender and melancholy.  The best part of the record is that everything just sounds a little dusty.  No slick production or layers of instrumentation.  Just a good ol' fashioned Rock & Roll record.  You remember those?  Well bobby Bare, Jr. and friends prove that they certainly do.
